Field notes / A small photographic practice
A walk in six frames
Give a familiar route a simple visual story.
Pick a short, familiar walk and limit your finished selection to six photographs. The limit is for your edit, not the number of attempts. Stay aware of traffic and your surroundings, and respect private property and the people you photograph.
Build a sequence
Start with a wide view that establishes the place. Add a medium view, a small detail, a repeated shape, a change in light and a final image that feels like an ending. Treat these as prompts rather than a required formula.
Edit for variety
Lay out the six images together. If several say the same thing, replace one with a different distance or angle. A technically imperfect detail may tell the story better than another similar wide view.
Make a contact sheet
Place the images in a two-by-three grid in your preferred photo or document app. Add a title and date. Keep the original files separately so that a small exported sheet is not your only copy.
